Child Survivors of WW2

During the Second World War European children, particularly British, German, and Polish, underwent years of being continuously bombed from the air by day and by night for up to five years in some cases. This was experienced by hundreds of millions of children and tens of thousands of them were killed. Some were the first in history to undergo bombardment by rocket guided missiles; others were sexually molested by soviet soldiers. Those that came out alive were real survivors and they were made of the right stuff. In addition to European children, many thousands in North America never again saw their fathers, brothers, uncles, and grandfathers who went to fight for them on the European and Pacific fronts where they fell in action. Tell them that this did not forever impact their lives.

Compare the fate of European children with that of Aboriginal children who, far from world wars, were required to attend residential schools where they “survived” being fed, clothed, sheltered and provided with an education that enabled them to function, and some to prosper, in a modern society.  Poor sucky Aboriginal children, always beating their drums about how they were mistreated or abused and how some who died of various diseases were buried in graves that are now unmarked due to the ravages of nature. The use of marble or granite tombstones was not a native tradition

The North American Aboriginals don’t even know what “survival” really is.  Let’s face it, all they really want is financial compensation for themselves and their next generation or two, and that will make it all right until their next fire dance.
